Brendan Welch

Hello My name is Brendan Welch. I wrote my first song about four years ago after hearing Tangled Up In Blue on the radio and I have written many since. I was lucky in the beginning to come to the attention of some optimistic people in Melbourne who have given me a shot at singing songs and hitting strings forever, and I'm nothing but grateful for that. However, I have become impatient, not by decision folks, in fact if you were to meet me, you'd surely meet a lowdown, pathologically patient young man of about twenty three, with an unearned confidence in a craft he knows he might never beat. I am talking of myself of course but I find my mind wandering behind the wall, and I'm sorry. I'm almost sure that I'll be writing songs forever. I have released one EP - 'The Unbeat' earlier this year and my new effort 'That Ghost' is slated for release, soon enough. 'That Ghost' having been completed, my thoughts are of a full length album of songs next year perhaps entitled 'Here Where We Landed' and perhaps not. Before and after all this I've played shows with some great people Paul Kelly, Bic Runger, Tim Rodgers, The Sleepy Jackson, The Gin Club, Plastic Palace Alice and some others I can't think of right now. The Radio have been kind to this little man - Australia's great Triple J have played some of my songs and said good things about me. Triple R, the best radio station in the world have given me a few spins too and, hopefully, 'That Ghost' will play on the waves as it should. At the moment I'm in retreat, with shame by my side and heaven above, to write the songs I wish I could hear more clearly - some day.
