A stupendous (stupid) four-piece on the brink of something special (or brief). A gargantuan conundrum on the brink of destruction (or enlightenment). We defy genre, but don't try too hard - then we'd be wankers?mixing a myriad array of styles, influences and themes. Ranging from harangued, vast rock with dark edges, to mellow, melodious folk, to catchy, humour-laced and quirky pop - sometimes within the space of a song. There's a big "up-yours", or a "healthy irreverence" (for the puritans), to the "cooler-than-cool" trends in some of the mediocre, spineless shit that's masquerading around as "rock'n'roll" at the moment. Not that we want to be seen as taking ourselves too seriously. We're actually all boring dags, who don't look cool at all. We just don't know where The Shops and The Bars are. Read any good books lately? Herbal tea, anyone? Everyone? Think of Pavement trying to molest Nick Drake, them being caught by Led Zeppelin who tells Will Oldham about it, who blocks his ears with a scarf and sticks his finger up Jeff Buckley's bum. A wannabe William Blake writes the lyrics and drinks like Dylan Thomas for inspiration. All the while Iggy & the Stooges stand by with arms folded wondering who these pansies Belle & Sebastian are, and Coltrane and Miles get flustered in a "What is Jazz?" discussion with an obstinate Burt Bacharach. Not that you could draw direct lines between any of these fogies to us, but you take it all in and spit it all out. All over the place, y'know? What don't bore us won't bore you. We've been gigging and recording with gathering intensity for around two years, and with most of us meeting whilst studying music at TAFE, we carry an admirable bag of talent & skill. What's more is that every one of us lads are just simple country boys, trying to make our way in a big, silly city/world. Shucks.
