Gecko Roman Project

GeckoRomanProject is what happened when four Australian musicians (actually, three and a half Australian and a half a Turk) went to Turkey to do some gigs. We wound up playing on a stage on the street (not a common thing for Istanbul), in the heart of Beyoglu.... One night we invitied some friends to play with us (not knowing the trouble we were about to cause the local council) and, was born a band. Those friends were Savas and Haci, two of Turkey's hottest and most respected Romany musicians. What happened that night was magic (with the assistance of raki, and the thousands who people danced in the street, who were also assisted by raki, (which is, by the way, the national drink of Turkey, sort of aniseedy)(and the next day - veryseedy)...anyway, a little off the topic...... The band went on to play many gigs, did some touring, found something very special, and cost the Beyoglu council possibly hundreds of lira sending squads of council police to our gigs - regularly. But it was all in the name of musika..... When the summer ended, we headed back to Melbourne for the summer season there...but, come April, we will be back in Istanbul. Perhaps someone should warn the council.

Kulturleri muzik yoluyla kaynastirma ustasi Unified Gecko kurucularinin yeni kulturel projesi, Gecko Roman Project. Avustralyali muzik grubu Unified Gecko, geleneksel Turk ezgilerine kattiklari yuksek voltajli enerji ile izleyicilere unutulmaz eglenceler yasatmasiyla taniniyor. Hikayemiz 4 yil boyunca hem Avustralya’da hem de Turkiye’de yuzlerce konserden sonra , Unified Gecko grubunun yarisinin kendilerini 2006 yazinda Istanbul’da bulmasiyla baslar. Beyoglunda yaz boyunca sahne aldiklari Balo Sokak Sahnesine arkadaslari Savas Zurnaci ve Rustem Cenbeli’yi davet ederler. Hic bir calisma yapamadan ve aradaki dil engeline ragmen o gece Balo Sokaktaki cosku, ve sahnedeki anlatilamaz muzikal heyecan sonucu olarak, Gecko Roman Project dogar. Yaz boyunca Beyoglundaki sokak sahnesinde verdikleri konserler karnaval havasina burunur ve Istanbul sokaklari iki ay boyunca Gecko Roman Project ile senlenir. Grubun unu Istanbul disina cikar ve Altin Portakal Film Festivali basta olmak uzere bir cok festivalde sahne alirlar. ATV, TRT 2, TRT Int, TV8 ve NTV gibi kanallarda muzik programlarina katilirlar. 2 ay gibi kisa bir surede cok buyuk bir izleyici kitlesine ulasan Gecko Roman Project Eylul ayi sonunda 4 muzisyenin Avustralya’ya donmesi sonucu kis uykusuna yatmak ister ama Istanbul’un sokaklari onlarsiz artik ayni degildir. Kendilerine durmadan telefonlar emailler yagar ve Gecko Roman Projesi icin yeni sezon calismalari baslar. Kisaca: “Dogu ezgileri ve bati muzik normlarinin en dogal ortamda bulusmasi Gecko Roman Project”.
