Kristy Lewis & The Wretched

Kristy Lewis is emerging as one of Melbourne's new and exciting singer/songwriters. On stage she is both unassuming and entertaining with her honest approach and natural ability to perform. Her powerful yet tender vocals deliver infectious melodies. The sounds hover between an airiness of sweet simplicity to then more dynamically driven rhythmic songs, blending both acoustic and electric guitar sounds.

It was as a theatre arts student at Curtin University (Perth, WA) that Kristy first discovered her passion for song writing. Drifting further away from the world of theatre, Kristy traveled with her guitar to Glasgow, Scotland, teaching herself to play along the way. It was in this vibrant music scene that Kristy was first inspired and encouraged to perform her originals. On returning to Perth Kristy played with several original bands including Aphrodisia, Beltane, Friends of Brian and Diatonic.

Now living in Melbourne, Kristy has returned her focus to performing, recording and releasing her own original songs. She has had highly successful shows at the Empress Hotel, Wesley Anne, 101, Duke of Windsor, Manchester Lane and Bar Open. Kristy was recently one of the finalists in the PBS FM RADIO Songwriters competition. With her debut CD to be released in 2006, Kristy can now be seen playing with her band The Wretched.
