Artist Profile
Lindsay Phillips
There is a dark horseman riding the alleyways who will stride into an unsuspecting saloon wielding nought but a humble guitar, ready to take the stage and captivate the
jaded hearts and nay-sayers of old Melbourne town. He's 6ft4 inches of brooding bravado, leather boots and all. A man reminiscent of a time long forgotten. His songs tell a tale the human heart knows all too well, pulling at the proverbial strings of the listener 'til the soul sheds a tear. There's confusion, loss and heartache to be found between the saddened strums of his guitar, but at the bottom of the well shines the light of redemption. Lindsay Phillips' authoritative, yet passionate voice will plant his sermons forever in the hearts and minds of those that truly wish to walk the line.
A musician from the age of 8, Lindsay became an accomplished bagpiper while studying vocal, piano, and clarinet . Picking up the guitar at age 12, his focus quickly shifted to songwriting. A year later he was forming bands. The next 17 years would see him write countless songs and play hundreds of shows, fronting several bands as vocalist and guitarist.
In January 2005 Lindsay Phillips set his sights on a career as a solo artist and began writing entirely new material with a country/folk flavour. Nine months later Lindsay began his assualt on Melbourne's live scene. Over the following months he performed at most of the city's major venues.
In November 2005 Lindsay won the PBSFM Festival of Song, having competed with 280 artists from Melbourne and beyond. He followed this achievement with a performance at the annual Queenscliff Festival, and several acclaimed live radio broadcasts.
Lindsay released his self-titled debut EP early 2006 at the Brunswick Green in Melbourne to a full house. The EP has since gone into multiple pressings. Having toured Australia several times, Lindsay Phillips went on to show the rest of the world what his music is about, playing shows in USA, Canada, Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, and England as part of the New Found Frequency Australian Export Tour.
He is currently in pre-production mode, preparing his second release due early 2007, followed by a tour of Australia's east coast, and then a return to Canadian and European soil throughout June/July.
