Vada

Vada was formed in 2000 and after an almost 2 year sabbatical have reformed to once again take their place within the Australian Jazz scene. The band features 6 of the most exiting young musicians in the Melbourne Jazz scene, of whom 4 attended the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School together. The band has established itself as one of the great bands to emerge from the Fitzroy scene, following in the steps of other groups such as The Hoodangers and Festa, and has gathered a large and loyal fan base. Vada’s music can’t be pinned to a particular genre, however the music verges on the theatrical, and the solitude and melancholy of the shtetl can be heard, as well as influences ranging from Bartok to Mingus to Mr Bungle.
