Crossing paths with kindred spirit Joel Carey they were soon stockpiling cheap instruments, affordable amps and expensive pedals… and generating their own energy. Much has happened since then. Wolf & Cub have shared stages with TV On The Radio, The Killers, The Music, Wolfmother, Queens of the Stone Age, Hot Hot Heat, Futureheads, and Death From Above 1979… played blistering sets nationwide on this years Big Day Out… performed at Meredith Music Festival and Homebake… and headlined their own national tour. On the strength of their two EPs to date they have been signed by 4AD, (home of TV On The Radio, The Pixies, Breeders, Thievery Corporation, Mountain Goats) which will see the legendary UK label release Wolf & Cub’s music outside of Australia and New Zealand. The band’s early tracks have been remixed by Paul Epworth (Bloc Party, The Futureheads, Maximo Park) and Minotaur Shock Bloc Party, Super Furry Animals). Late last year Wolf & Cub toured Japan and the UK, with BBC radio’s legendary Steve Lamacq bestowing Single of the Week status on the band. Influential DJ John Kennedy at London’s XFM also gave strong support and the UK music sites and mags started to pay attention. Wolf & Cub released their debut album on September 2 2006. The album, entitled Vessels, was recorded in Adelaide and mixed in Glasgow, Scotland with producer Tony Doogan, who has previously worked with Mogwai, Super Furry Animals, Belle & Sebastian and Mountain Goats. Vessels features nine completely new tracks from the band and a reworking of their earlier single Steal Their Gold.
